TRI TIN AT TECHFEST – A NEW STEP FORWARD FOR VIETNAM’S SEAWEED INDUSTRY
Amid the early winter chill in Hanoi, the area around Hoan Kiem Lake has become more vibrant than usual as final preparations are being completed for Techfest – the National Innovation and Startup Festival, officially scheduled to open on December 12, 2025.
As part of this year’s Techfest program, the Department for Startup and Science & Technology Enterprises (Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam) organized a Forum and Recognition Ceremony honoring outstanding Science & Technology Entrepreneurs and Innovative Startup Enterprises from across the country. The event aims to acknowledge and celebrate enterprises that have made significant contributions through the application of science, technology, and innovation to sustainable economic development.
Representing Khanh Hoa Province, four outstanding enterprises were officially selected and nominated by the provincial authorities to participate in the recognition ceremony. Tri Tin Seaweed Company is honored to be among these selected enterprises, proudly representing the province at this national-level event.
Tri Tin’s participation in Techfest is not only a meaningful recognition of its persistent efforts in research, production, and development of seaweed products, but also a strong motivation for the company to continue innovating and enhancing the value of Vietnam’s seaweed industry.
With the support of government agencies, the business community, and a strong spirit of innovation, Tri Tin remains committed to contributing to the sustainable growth of Vietnam’s seaweed industry and to expanding its presence in international markets.

Engineer Le Ben with Japanese seaweed
Sea grapes originated from the Philippines, then were introduced to Japan and were grown and processed into food by the Japanese as a green vegetable since 1986. However, in the land of the rising sun, sea grapes did not grow well. In 2004, this seaweed was brought back by a Vietnamese geological engineer to study, improve the planting method and successfully propagate, creating a higher quality sea grape product. That engineer was Mr. Le Ben - Member of the Khanh Hoa Science and Technology Association, Deputy Director of Tri Tin Company Limited (Nha Trang). The above innovation helped him win an encouragement prize in the 9th National Science and Technology Innovation Contest (2006 - 2007), at the same time opening up new prospects for sea grape cultivation in Vietnam.

ESTABLISHMENT OF VIETNAM STANDARDS REVIEW COUNCIL ON SEA GRAPES IN 2023
Sea grapes are a valuable resource of Vietnam, contributing significantly to the industry, agriculture and food sectors. To ensure quality and safety for consumers, establishing quality standards for sea grapes is essential. With that goal, the TCVN Review Council for Sea Grapes was established. Tri Tin is honored to be a member of the Review Council for documents before submitting them to the competent authority for promulgation. This is a proud milestone when Vietnam becomes the first country in the world to research, develop and promulgate standards for sea grapes products. This shows Vietnam's commitment to ensuring the quality and safety of its sea grapes production industry.
